The subject Life skills is devoted to the process of developing close personal and business relationships that work. This subject is committed to personal development and career management. It is a subject about skills that you must fine-tune in order for your life to work better. It helps you to explore abilities, skills, values, concepts, new thoughts, and ways of being and behaviors that are necessary to maximize your personal and professional potentials. Life skills are skills for effective networking.

In this context, soft skills have a crucial role to play. If you know how to deal with people at emotional level (peers, subordinates, superiors, clients, suppliers, etc) through Emotional Intelligence, you can build and sustain effective relationships that will result in mutual gain.

‘Life Skills are abilities that help us to adapt and behave positively so that we can deal effectively with the challenges of everyday life.’


Program Objective :

By the end of life skills programme, students will be to:

  • Understand the various components of life skills and their importance in personal and professional life.
  • Able to practice & demonstrate the skills learnt during the process.
  • Develop effective communicative skills.(spoken and written)
  • Become a self-confident person by mastering inter-personal skills, team management skills, and leadership skills.
  • Develop all round personality with broad career plans.

The subject Life skills makes you understand the concepts with clarity as the input gives emphasize on practical orientation. Activities given are an added advantage. It also involves fine tuning of communication skills to express attitudes, ideas and thoughts well.

Hiral Macwan

Academic Associate, Life Skills

Ms. Hiral Joseph Macwan has been the academic associate in the department of Life skills at TLSU,Vadodara having Sixteen(16) years of teaching experience (out of which three years as the chief coordinator of SPEC Campus, Bakrol and 6 years as a principal in charge) at the graduate level. She has worked as a moderator, convener, paper setter and examiner at the University examinations. She had been senate member at Sardar Patel University from six years. She has attended many seminars and presented paper. She has published paper in an international journal. She had been the Workshop Director and co chair person at a national level seminar. She has been M.Phil in English and pursuing her Ph.D. She has got excellent academic record since schooling and stood second in M.A. (Final) at Sardar Patel University, Vidhyanagar and received gold medal at the graduate level for securing first rank. She likes to work in a dynamic environment-which can help her to enhance her skills & knowledge and enable to grow professionally and be expertise in making a positive difference to the University and the Society. She is dedicated and focused with ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and follow through to achieve set goal. She likes reading & loves trekking.

Dr. Nandini N. Arora

Assistant Professor, Life Skills

Nandini has been associated with Team Lease Skills University teaching in Life Skills Department as Asst. Professor. She has earned her Master’s and Ph.D from Dept. of Psychology, M.S. University of Baroda. Her specialization lies in Clinical Psychology and her doctoral thesis was in the area of Gerontology.

She has been in development/ social sector for her last 14 years as practitioner in program management dealing various issues ranging from gender, disability ,natural resources management, entrepreneurship and child rights. Her work experiences ranges from diverse geographies at state, national and international level.

She is passionate about gardening, pets and culinary art. Her voluntary activities include working with psychiatry patients, children with learning disabilities and autism. She is also associated with old ages homes focusing on patients with dementia esp .Alzheimer’s and Parkinson disease.

Dr.(Mrs.) Anitha Dinesh Shetty

Dr.Anitha Dinesh Shetty, Assistant Professor, in the Department of Life Skills in the TeamLease Skills University, Vadodara, Gujarat has twenty seven years of experience in the field of Education at various levels, starting from primary school to higher education. She received her Ph.D degree from M.S.University, Vadodara and is M.Phil, M.Ed, B.Ed (Gold Medallist) and B.Sc. Her areas of specialization are Guidance and counseling, Educational management & School Administration. Her career growth can be seen starting from a science teacher, lecturer at the Teacher Training Institution, to the head of the first English Medium Primary Teachers’ Training Institution in Gujarat. She had served as a principal in various schools exploring the dynamicity of education. She is the Academic Counsellor for IGNOU B.Ed programme and is the member of the Governing Body – V-One Society, Vadodara, an NGO for the welfare of differentially able. She has undergone training for Transactional Analysis and Life Skills for Adolescents (Lions Club Programme). The focus of her paper presentations in the international/national seminars are mainly on classroom interaction, behavioral psychology of students and teachers, curriculum planning etc. Her areas of Interest have always been; Educational Management – Managing resources/enhancing human potentials/Quality enhancement within the organisation.
